Salem, Massachusetts is great place to visit, especially around Halloween. Salem's Witch Museum is a treasure! Hocus Pocus captures Salem's Halloween spirit and a talented cast transfers that magic to the screen. It's the wonderful cast that makes Hocus Pocus a special Halloween treat. Omri Katz is excellent as Max, an ex-California teen who finds himself a reluctant new resident of Salem. It's surprising that Katz's career didn't take off after the success of Hocus Pocus. Thora Birch is wonderful as Max's little sister. Bette Midler was scary and didn't need much makeup to play a wicked witch. Hocus Pocus is a must-see Halloween film.

An excellent film. My family and I bought this film after viewing it several times. It is a great story and a Halloween classic. My 7 y.o. and her cousins fell in love with it and are going to be the Sanderson Sisters for Halloween this year. Characterizations are strong and distinct; plot is cleverly constructed (great climax in the cemetery. performances are top notch. Nuts to the critics- this one's too much fun to miss.

I liked the colourful costumes and lighting in this film, and I think the three witches were very amusing and camp, with the three stars getting stuck in with no egos spoiling things.I actually only saw two thirds of the movie up to where the enchantment song is sung by Jessica Sarah Parker or whatever she's called I am dying to know if the girl is a virgin too start of the film is interesting, with the lad in 1693 etc and the movie seems to follow a traditional storyline which is good sually the film is wonderful and I'd love to see it on a big 40 inch TV with surround that 20 years has elapsed since it was made.A lovely film to cherish, and I really like that song,I really need to get the film and watch it all.
